MemoryWorks Multimedia got its start in Orlando, Florida in 2001. Eric and Shannon Grierson started the company based on creating interactive high school yearbooks on CD. The Griersons used their knowledge and experience in the corporate world to expand and refocus their business in 2003.
MemoryWorks moved to Smith Mountain Lake the first of 2003. The Griersons began promoting MemoryWorks with all of the services it could provide, not currently being offered at the lake. Eventually, the development of a new breed of publications was created called Discover Smith Mountain Lake CD. The CD contained full screen photographs, video, narration, music, web links and an interactive map of the lake. It was well received and that same year, MemoryWorks won the "Most Innovative Business" award given by the SMLCCP Chamber members.
Now, in its 7th year, MemoryWorks has again refocussed its product and services offered. The Discover CDs are now a large-format, high-quality, highly-designed magazine; unmatched by any other publication in the area. The publication is issued three times a year and has now created events that coincide with each publication. Jewels of the Lake is an annual treasure hunt put on by the publisher and was a huge success its first year. MemoryWorks also created a new award for the business community called Stars of the Lake.
Destined to use their skills in publishing and design for God, the Griersons next created a Christian focussed publication called "For His Glory" magazine. The magazine debuted April of 2007 and is issued three times a year. It is distributed and has content focussed on the areas of Lynchburg, Roanoke, Smith Mountain Lake, Forest, Salem, Bedford and Rocky Mount.
The MemoryWorks team has been kept to a minimum as an effort to ensure quality and the personal touch of its creators. Eric and Shannon Grierson do all of their own photography, design, programming, videography, concepting and sales. They employ a handful of contributing writers and an editor to assist with content development. When you hire MemoryWorks, you hire the owners and a personal touch.
